I love a snowdrop but to get a truly stunning display you need to lift and divide after they flower.

  • If you have not sown any seeds now is the time especially for aubergines, tomatoes and peppers either in a propagator or on a warm window sill indoors.

  • Sow broad beans in a gutter pipe so they can be slipped out into a trench.

  • Sow early vegetables, salad leaves, onions, radishes and peas, I put a pot of peas in the greenhouse so I can have early pea tips.

  • Prepare your seed beds if the ground is unworkable and cover to warm up before sowing, you can sow spinach, early peas, summer cabbage if the ground
    is not too wet.

  • Last chance to prune pears and apples

  • Don’t forget to chit your potatoes!

  • There is an easy way out of all the sowing. If you are limited for space inside you can always buy seedlings, especially tomatoes as you can get such an exciting varieties and it can work out cheaper than buying lot of seed packets.

  • Pick your flowers – hellebores, snowdrops, winter box, the fragrances are so exciting bringing spring indoors.
