Gloria's Glorious Garden – Lettuce
Alison Owens
• Have more than one pot of lettuce seeds on the go at once sown approx two weeks apart. You only need a handful of seeds for each pot and it will ensure you have fresh lettuce throughout the summer without having a glut.
• Sew in the evening when it is not too hot.
• Lettuce will thrive on a sunny window sill but don’t let it get too hot. Create shade if necessary and don’t let the soil go dry.
• Lettuce is ready when the head begins to form but you don’t have to wait that long if you like you
salad young! Always cut a lettuce when harvesting and never pull.
