Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

This recipe is a firm favourite in our house at Christmas. The biscuits are quick and easy to make – perfect for last minute gift. Father Christmas always has a few of these waiting for him in my son’s room and he must love them as they are always gone by morning...!

• 6oz butter
• 6oz caster sugar
• 1½ tsp vanilla essence
• 5½oz self-raising flour
• 1½oz cocoa powder
• 2oz custard powder

For decoration:
• 10oz icing sugar
• 2 tbsp cocoa powder
• 1 tsp vanilla essence
• ¼ cup warm water
• Hundreds and thousands

Makes about 36 cookies

Place all cookie ingredients into a food processor and blitz until mixture has thoroughly combined. Roll into small balls and place onto lined cookie sheets (I use a small ice cream scoop to do this - it is quicker and saves getting messy!). Bake for 13 mins at 160c, then leave to cool on the baking trays.

Stir icing ingredients together until smooth. Fill a piping bag, fixed with a small plain nozzle. Pipe the icing in zig zags over the cooled biscuits (work quickly - no finesse required here!), then sprinkle over the hundreds and thousands as you go. Once set, shake off the excess sprinkles, before serving.
